A Unique Combination of Personalized and Online Learning
The Residential Intensive
You'll start each semester with a residential intensive in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our residential intensives bring students and faculty together for 3 to 7 stimulating days of workshops, classes, and community building. You'll get the chance to meet and learn with fellow students and faculty in classes and informal gatherings, while enjoying the breathtaking Bay Area environment.
Between residential intensives, students participate in an exciting array of online courses. Our online format allows students from all over the world to work closely with faculty and to share ideas and study in an interactive and diverse learning environment.
The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) at CIIS offers a Transitional Doctorate in Chinese Medicine (transitional DACM). The transitional DACM provides additional knowledge beyond the professional master's degree (MSTCM).
43% of the coursework is online. The rest of the curriculum is delivered in a convenient modular format, allowing students to maintain their practice or other employment.
To apply for an online program or take an online course, you must register as a student with CIIS. After you register, the Online Learning staff will contact you with details about how to enter the online environment prior to the beginning of the semester.

Learning Management System
CIIS has more than 20 years' experience offering integral graduate programs online. All of our programs, even those on-campus ones, integrate the Canvas online learning management system. In some courses of study, students can interact with course materials on mobile devices and easily chat with classmates. Other programs blend in-class study with online classes, allowing students the flexibility to easily blend their education and lifestyle.
