- January 27, 2023
- 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
This event is open to the entire CIIS community (students, faculty, and staff).
Transformation at CIIS returns on Friday, January 27th with filmmaker, Lauren Lubin. Join us for a screening of Lauren’s film, We Exist: Beyond the Binary, and then open the space for an intimate conversation and Q&A with the filmmaker.
We Exist: Beyond the Binary is one of the first films to document this growing community living life "beyond the binary" contruct of gender. The film offers a first-hand account of what it is like to exist other than male or female while living within the confines of a world that is slow to catch up.
We initially screened this film in Summer 2022 and had a significant turnout. After the initial screening, we decided to invite Lauren to CIIS.
Join us on January 27th from 12:00-2:00 pm (Pacific) for this important event.

Lauren Lubin is pioneering ultimate gender awareness and equality by producing We Exist, which explores what life is like for individuals who exist outside the gender binary while living in a gender-binary world. Lauren's work shatters traditional, antiquated constructs that define gender as either male or female. The conversation around this project has started an international movement, impacting the lives and well-being of many and empowering those who have become invisible and oppressed. Lauren, a former Division I athlete, spent two years living a monastic lifestyle in a tree house in the rainforest, where Lauren published two books: The Rain Forest Awakenings and The Thoughtless Revolution. Lauren has been featured on ABC's Good Morning America and in Curve, Out, The Denver Post and countless other publications.
