Mar-y-Sol Salinas is an educational leader with a passion for equity and social justice and over 15 years' experience in the field of education. She earned her BA in sociology with a minor in ethnic studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and her MEd in educational leadership from Concordia University, Portland. Her professional experience includes teaching in Montessori elementary classrooms, as well as advising, teaching, and administration in higher education. As a first-generation college graduate, Mar-y-Sol's current role as the manager of academic and career advising and support at a college branch campus allows her to incorporate holistic advising and coaching practices in working with at-risk students, many who come from underserved or underrepresented communities. Her research interests include whole-person advising practices in higher education, intergenerational trauma, eco-psychology, women's leadership, ethnic and cultural diversity, and sacred sexuality.
