Bio

Nathalie Huitema-Nuijens, MS, is a PhD candidate in human sexuality at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Fransisco, California. She is specialized in sexuality and aging. She is trained and has developed her career internationally, working in the Netherlands and the United States of America. She is a registered psychologist in the Netherlands and a registered sexologist in the United States of America
She is the co-author of a chapter about sexuality in the handbook for geronto-psychologist [handbook ouderen-psychology] in the Netherlands. She has also developed several commercially successful e-learning methodologies as an introduction in the field of sexuality for geriatricians, as well as for nursing staff from nursing homes. Currently, there are a few of her publications under review and she has been a reviewer for a peer-reviewed journal.
Her current research explores the questions related to sexual consent capacity for sexual behavior among residents in long-term care facilities. She considers herself an advocate for sexuality and elderly people with dementia, especially those within long-term care settings.
