Each astrological year, when the Sun enters the sign of Leo and the star Sirius moves closer to Earth, a unique and powerful alignment called the Lion’s Gate Portal emerges. Typically beginning on the eighth of August each year, this portal is known for raising the consciousness of humanity through heart-centered change at the individual level. When we heal ourselves at that moment, ripples for collective change may arise.
The days and weeks surrounding the Lion’s Gate Portal are an optimal time for working with the energies and archetypes of creativity, love, and playfulness in tending to changes we seek in ourselves as gifts to the collective. It is also a time of cultivating the necessary personal empowerment it takes to be your full creative self. The peak of this energy usually occurs between August eighth and twelfth annually, and it can be so abundant that our nervous systems may become overwhelmed. This year, because of the proximity to the full moon at this time, these feelings are likely to be further magnified.
Join CIIS Faculty and Expressive Arts Therapist Jill Therrien for an experiential workshop exploring and harnessing this potent time through an array of expressive, artistic modalities. Jill guides participants to connect with the creative energies of this moment in a grounded and intentional way. Participants cultivate ideas for their own personal ritual to use during this especially potent year and in future arrivals of the Lion’s Gate Portal. Through guided meditations, journaling, movement, and collage work, participants explore any heart-centered change that may be calling them. Participants also receive a digital zine as a reminder for what potential this annual event can bring.
During this workshop, it is beneficial for participants to be in a space of comfort where privacy is possible. There will be a movement section which is both gentle and self-guided to accommodate varying abilities. Please bring a journal and collage materials, such as found objects, magazine cut outs, paper, and glue.
Explore creative practices that can support your personal growth at this potent time and beyond.
