Día de los Muertos: Ancestry, Art, & Community

Altar Making and Community Plática

Día de los Muertos Gathering, 2025

Join us for a special Día de los Muertos gathering with Samantha Garcia, a devoted student of her ancestors who walks in the footsteps of the curanderxs, healers, and seers who came before her.

Together, we’ll gather around a traditional altar-making practice rooted in ancestry, remembrance, and collective healing. We’ll break bread, make art, share stories, and hold a community plática centered on ancestry—creating space to reflect on the wisdom, love, and lineages that continue to live through us.

The altar will remain open for our community to continue adding offerings and spending quiet time in reflection during noon meditation on November 2-3.

Bring a photo, object, flower, memory, or offering for an ancestor you’d like to honor—or simply bring yourself.

All are welcome.

There will be a photographer on hand taking photos of the event. Please let a CIIS organizer know if you would rather not be photographed.
