Astrological Support for Therapists and Healers

Join CIIS Faculty, queer astrologer, and psychotherapist Avery Phipps for a unique workshop exploring astrology for therapists, healers, and coaches.

Through their work as a therapist and teacher of therapists, Avery understands the complexity of doing healing work that can repeatedly draw us into our own wounding. Avery is also the founder of Witchy Sh!t for Therapists, a practice helping healers use astrology and other esoteric arts.

This 3-hour experiential workshop is an astrological exploration designed to support psychotherapists, coaches, and healers to better understand their work and its relational complexity. Avery will guide participants in looking at the "Big Three" of astrology: the Sun, Moon, and Rising/Ascendant signs in the context of the self-of-the-healer.

The Sun can tell you about the ways you shine for your clients and stabilize them, and about the egoic needs that may enter your therapeutic relationships. The Moon's placement provides information about your attachment style and the ways you connect and contain emotionally. The Ascendant sign shows how clients are likely to perceive you, which can inform transference dynamics and more.

Avery invites you to support your own healing processes and to learn how your personal astrology works in the context of yourself as a healer, in your practice, and in your therapeutic relationships.

This workshop will be experiential, explorative, and fun. 

Please come prepared by learning your Sun and Moon signs, and if possible, your Ascendant/Rising sign. If you aren’t able to confirm your Ascendant/Rising sign, you are still welcome to attend and participate in the Sun and Moon discussions.

About the Speaker

Avery Phipps, M.A., LMFT, is a queer astrologer, psychotherapist, and writer. Their lived experience has included decades of astrology practice and study. They have been a student of astrology for 30 years, a practitioner working with astrology clients for over 20 years, and a teacher of astrology for over 10 years.

Professor Phipps is currently Assistant Professor and Academic Co-Chair in the Masters in Counseling Psychology, Integral Counseling Psychology program at CIIS. They are an ardent believer in liberatory and experiential education. They have been practicing psychotherapy for 10 years, often integrating astrology and esoteric concepts with more traditional psychology.

They work on the side at Witchy Sh!t for Therapists to support therapists and other healers to deepen into the relational aspects of their work with esoteric tools and wisdom. They are currently working with a co-author, Michael Kiyoshi Salavatore, on an astrology text to walk readers through the basics of learning chart interpretation for themselves, in a queer and decolonizing way.
