Elizabeth completed my first year of studies at Sofia University and plans to use her time at CIIS to research an energy healing modality called VortexHealing. She presented a poster on this topic at the Science of Consciousness Conference, University of Arizona, in April 2016. Prior to resuming her education, Elizabeth worked for several years in venture capital finance; she is a CPA. Prior to getting sidetracked in finance, she studied comparative religion at Harvard University (1998), with an emphasis on Hinduism and Buddhism. Her undergraduate thesis, "The Nature of Reality and the States of Consciousness in the Upanishads and Yoga Sutra," was supervised by Diana Eck, director of the Pluralism Project at Harvard. Elizabeth was raised a fundamentalist protestant, similar to a Mennonite, in Missouri. She is a thyroid cancer survivor, a divorced mother of two daughters (Tara and Kira), and a resident of Los Altos, CA.
