Biography

Lael Fon is the Director of Institutional Research, overseeing the university’s internal and external institutional reporting, as well as institutional surveys. Her area of interest is data governance and the alignment of university processes that produce the data used in the department’s reporting efforts. Lael joined CIIS in 2001 as a student in the Philosophy, Cosmology & Consciousness MA program, and quickly joined the staff in 2001 as well. She started working as the Online Coordinator for the university, and then transitioned to the Registrar’s Office. Initially, she supported the functions of the Registrar's Office, taking on roles of increased responsibility, which eventually included managing institutional research efforts at CIIS. She formed the Office of Institutional Research in 2022, where she now serves as Director, overseeing the university’s internal and external institutional reporting, as well as institutional surveys. Her main area of interest is data governance and the alignment of university processes that produce the data used in the department’s reporting efforts.

Over the years, she has also taught various courses on the topics of Sacred Geometry and Mathematics in Nature for the CIIS School of Undergraduate Studies.

Lael earned her BA in Psychology from University of Santa Cruz, and a Masters in Philosophy, Cosmology and Consciousness from CIIS.

Lael lives with her family in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where she enjoys surfing and exploring the forest trails.
