Biography

Brenda Sanders, Ph.D. - An environmental scientist, professor and entrepreneur, Dr. Sanders is committed to the betterment of higher education, the environment and corporate social responsibility. She has led research into the ramifications of pollution and toxicity on multiple species and ecosystems and presented on these topics internationally. Dr. Sanders is also well versed in balancing the realities of creating a successful, results-driven business that also tends to its responsibility for social and environmental sustainability: she has variously served as a founder, CEO, Senior VP and Principal for several environmental solutions firm. She is also an Advisory Board Member of the technology firm transformAI and a member of the Board of Trustees for CIIS.

Dr. Sanders has over 25 years of experience in research, teaching and consulting in the environmental sciences. She is a tenured professor of biological sciences at California State University, Long Beach, and because of the demand for her expertise she has served on numerous international, federal and state panels and committees. This includes membership on the Board of Directors for the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, and an appointment by the Department of State to the North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES), an international organization focused on increasing our knowledge and management of ecological resources in the North Pacific. She is also a prolific writer and editor, co-authoring dozens of papers and serving as the North American Editor of the Ecotoxicology Series and on the editorial board for Reviews in Aquatic Sciences. She has also reviewed for numerous environmental toxicology, physiology and cellular biology journals.
