July 17, 2023

CIIS alumni are a publishing powerhouse, and we’re pleased to spotlight four titles from the past year that speak to the wide range of wisdom and expertise our graduates bring to the world. Check out their books below, and if you’re looking for more summer reading suggestions, don’t forget to explore our faculty titles, too!

Gabrielle Pelicci, Ph.D.

Ph.D., Transformative Studies

In this vulnerable and insightful memoir, Pelicci reveals how childhood trauma impacted her physical and mental health. All This Healing is Killing Me is an intimate narrative that explores grief, complex PTSD, and the long path toward healing. By describing the many aspects of her journey, Pelicci offers readers ways to engage with their own struggles and burdens, and offers hope for the future.

Angie Choi, Ed.D.

M.A., Asian and Comparative Studies

Whole New Me is for cancer patients and cancer caregivers and provides an intimate account of a holistic, integrative approach to cancer. Choi provides searing insight into her personal experiences as she relates her process working with both conventional and alternative healthcare practitioners to get the support she needed as she forged a holistic, complimentary path through cancer. This book is presented through the lens of Indian spirituality.

Katie McCleary

MFA, Interdisciplinary Arts and Writing

Bridge the Gap, which alumna McCleary co-authored with Jennifer Edwards, explores how biology and biography define and refine behavior in relationships. Focusing on personal responsibility and awareness, meta-cognition, and curiosity, they provide a reliable and replicable framework to enhance open communication in business settings and in life. The authors put their experience as Fortune 500 coaches, authors, podcasters, and all-around leaders to show readers how to operationalize curiosity and build true collaboration.

Ana Perez-Chisti

M.A. and Ph.D., Philosophy and Religion

Sweet Reign: Fourth Wave Feminine Principles describes the lives of eight holy women who dedicated themselves to all beings. Their stories help awaken connections within the author between transcendental awareness and intuition, and experiencing their lives opened the way to mystical communion with the One who constellates within our own potential.
