Biography
Michelle Mueller joined CIIS’ staff in 2021 and provides administrative support for the Human Research Review Committee within the Office of Research and Academic Support. Michelle celebrates working for a university whose curriculum is so closely aligned with her lifelong interests. After obtaining bachelors and masters degrees in religion, Michelle completed a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. She taught world religions, humanities, media studies, and sociology of religion for several colleges and universities before discovering her passion for regulatory compliance in IRB administration. She prioritizes professional development and peer mentoring in her relationships and currently serves CIIS as a Staff Council member. She attends webinars and workshops wherever possible to absorb and implement information in support of CIIS' research culture. She has completed trainings on tribal research and clinical trial administration and, for personal enrichment, completed a unit of clinical pastoral education (CPE) through the Sankofa CPE Center, while a CIIS employee.
