Biography

Daphne Crocker White, Ph.D., is a committed clinical psychologist and educator whose deep spiritual practice inspires her creative and community work.

After receiving her BA from Lone Mountain College (San Francisco College for Women), Dr. Crocker White went on to pursue multiple masters’ degrees, earning a Master in Education from the College of Notre Dame in 1975 and then an M.A. in marriage and family counseling and another M.A. in psychology in quick succession from the University of San Francisco and the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, respectively. Her education eventually culminated in a Ph.D. from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in 1985.

Dr. Crocker White put her extensive expertise into practice as a clinical psychologist at Woodside Women’s Hospital and at Belmont Hills while also maintaining a private practice. Dedicated to helping others even beyond this, she served as co-administrator of Transitional Program, a community health program. Dr. Crocker White taught meditation classes at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology and taught relaxation classes at Integrated Healing Hearts.

Dr. Crocker White’s community involvement included serving as President of the San Jose Center for Poetry and Literature and as both a board member and a staff member of Nine Gates Program, Inc. She is also a writer, and her poetry has appeared in multiple journals as well as in her poetry collection Skylark.

Along with her late husband, poet Anthony ("Tony") Russell White, she is a long-time San Rafael resident, and has two children and four grandchildren.  She currently splits her time between her heritage home and the Smith Ranch Senior Community.
