Notes from the Field: Pushing Back and Beyond

A one-day hybrid (online and in-person) conference open to the public, students, and colleagues in the counseling and clinical psychology fields presented by the Department of Clinical Psychology at CIIS

An International Conference Presented by the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program

Conference Overview

As clinicians in today’s current socio-political climate, we are tasked with helping our clients manage an increasingly challenging and threatening world, internally and externally. At the same time, we are experiencing impingements on the very fabric of our work and within our own psyches. Depth-oriented psychology, centering a holistic approach to both the individual and collective, offers clinicians a way of orienting to the work in these precarious times that both pushes back and offers a vision beyond.

Our conference will cover a range of topics, each offering a unique window into how our community is navigating this moment and envisioning the future.

As our conferences are designed to create community, we offer treats throughout the day and lunch, providing space for relationship-building between attendees. We hope to have you join us.

Weaving together developmental and psychodynamic relational theory, research, clinical observations, and reported lived experiences, Dr. Ehrensaft will demonstrate the manner in which the relational matrix of gender unfolds for each child over time, and how as clinicians we can build gender resilience in the face of adversity for all children and families in our care and in the community at large.
