CIIS’ Clinical Psychology Department (PsyD) presents their 4th annual one-day conference reimagining clinical work by centering freedom and liberation.
Anti-Racist Psychotherapy: Revolutionary Joy, Racial Trauma Recovery, and Predicting Better Futures
An Online Workshop with David Archer
This event introduces Anti-Racist Psychotherapy and the rationale for creating transformative approaches to mental wellbeing. Archer will present the Rhythm and Processing (RAP) Strategies, explain how RAP evolved from EMDR therapy and show how it can be used on its own and as an adjunct for approaches that are concerned with racial trauma.
RAP was originally developed to address the mental health concerns of complex racial trauma. Clinical experience has since shown it can support people experiencing anxiety, depression, dissociative symptoms, and limiting beliefs about change, among other applications.
We will also explore the concept of revolutionary joy in the context of racial trauma recovery and through the lens of the predictive processing framework.
The goal is to increase interest in anti-racist interventions, demystify mental health, and encourage more racially diverse, culturally-responsive, and critical thinkers to the field.
