Couples counseling is demanding. We feel emotionally connected to our clients, but they often don't heal and grow as fast as we would like. In this presentation, George Taylor MFT will describe his approach to resolving difficult couples issues, through a mindful and body-centered orientation.
The presentation will focus on practical tools which will teach therapists:
- How couples can create more joy and connection
- How couples can recognize their stressful patterns
- How couples can change their conflicted communication styles
The presentation will include experiential exercises, short talks and group dialogue.
George Taylor, MFT (ICP '91) has worked as a couples counselor in San Francisco and Marin County since 1991. He has studied mindfulness with Jack Kornfield and with Stephen and Ondrea Levine. His mentors for body-oriented couples counseling are Drs. Gay and Katie Hendricks.
George wrote "A Path for Couples", which contains simple, effective practices that have been tested on thousands of couples. Based on mindfulness, somatic experience, and research on neurobiology, the practices teach couples specific skills which help them to develop intimacy. firstname.lastname@example.org
