Blue Sky Leaders is CIIS' signature leadership formation program, built on a premise that separates it from conventional executive education: the most consequential challenges facing organizations and communities today require a different quality of presence, perception, and relationship.

Over one academic year, across three stackable semesters, participants develop those capacities directly — through sustained encounters with world-class faculty, immersive residential intensives, contemplative practice, and the honest work of leading in real time.

What the Blue Sky Leaders Program Develops

Participants develop leadership capacities directly — through immersive residential intensives, contemplative practice, cohort-based relational work, and structured integration across the full academic year.

Embodied Capacities, Formed Over Time

Through immersive residentials with world-class faculty, somatic practice, sustained dialogue, and structured integration, the program develops the kind of presence and relational attunement that seminars and frameworks alone cannot produce. Each residential runs four to seven days, long enough for something real to happen.

A Cohort That Stays With You

The Blue Sky Leaders cohort is small by design. Participants travel through the program together, building the relational trust that makes genuine development possible. Along the way, they join the Blue Sky Circle, a growing alumni network committed to lifelong learning and collaborative work in the world.

Faculty Who Are Leaders in Their Fields

The faculty work at the intersection of contemplative traditions, somatic intelligence, complexity science, ecological leadership, cosmology, grief and resilience, dialogical practice, and AI ethics. Participants engage with these domains directly through immersive, facilitated experiences — the program's operating principle is experience before concept, always.

Graduate Outcomes

Graduates of Blue Sky Leaders complete the program with a stackable credential and the embodied, relational, and systemic capacities to carry it into their work. They leave equipped to:

Lead organizations through complexity, transition, and systemic change with greater steadiness and discernment
Work at the intersection of inner development and outer impact, in nonprofits, businesses, schools, and communities
Facilitate the kinds of honest, difficult conversations that most organizations avoid
Develop and present a capstone initiative aligned with their own values and vision for contribution
Engage with AI, ecological crisis, and political uncertainty from a place of contemplative grounding rather than reactivity

Stackable Credentials, One Program

Each semester awards its own credential. Participants may complete BSL I alone, continue through BSL II, or go all the way through BSL III to earn the full certification.
