Dear Students,

As preparations are being made to virtualize courses starting tomorrow March 13 th, we wanted to share some frequently asked questions.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to Online Learning, your academic program, or me for assistance.

When will I receive information / link to my course webinars?

A link to your course webinar will be sent to you on the day of your course:

  • Link will be sent within ten minutes of the start time of class
  • Link will be sent only to a student’s @mymail.ciis.edu email account; please check that you have access to this account and/or are forwarding messages to an account that you can access
  • Webinars will be via Zoom or Big Blue Button (Canvas)
  • Course webinar will take place during the exact time course would have met in person (i.e. courses that are typically scheduled for Tuesdays from 9am – 12pm at Mission Street campus will meet virtually on Tuesdays from 9am – 12pm)

I didn’t receive information / link to my course webinar.  Who do I contact?

Please contact Online Learning at OnlineLearningSupport@ciis.edu

How will I know if I have a course that will continue to meet in-person?

The list of courses that will continue to meet in-person will NOT be posted on the CIIS COVID-19 website; individual programs will notify specific students if students are registered for a course that will continue to meet in person.  Please note that students in these courses continue to have the option to request virtual / remote access in lieu of participating in person.  Virtual / remote access will not be counted as an absence.

I don’t have access to a computer / wi-fi in order to join a virtual course.  What are my options?  Will CIIS remain open during this time?

CIIS’s Mission Street building will remain open during the time that courses are virtualized.  The computer lab and Library will be available for student use.  If using a CIIS computer for course webinars, please bring your own headphones with an inline microphone to fully participate in your course.    Students are also able to use classrooms for study spaces, although we encourage appropriate distancing if multiple students will be sharing a space.  Please check MyCIIS for the most updated building hours.  Students can also check their public libraries for possible use of public library computers.

We will continue to send additional FAQs and information in the coming days, and also send you our best for your health and well-being.
