How do we participate in the mystery of spirituality? In his new book Jorge Ferrer explores participatory spirituality, which holds that human beings are active co-creators of spiritual phenomena and worlds. With the dwindling of organized religion, there is a growing movement for personal spirituality to come to the forefront and enrich old structures. Ferrer examines the relationship between science and transpersonal psychology, the import of shared entheogenic visions, the nature of a fully embodied spirituality, and the features of integral education.

Join Matthew T. Segall, Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness professor at CIIS, in conversation with Jorge Ferrar about his new book, Participation and the Mystery: Transpersonal Essays in Psychology, Education, and Religion and investigate contemporary spirituality and how to participate in cycles larger than ourselves.

Jorge N. Ferrer, PhD, is Professor of East-West Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He is the author of Revisioning Transpersonal Theory: A Participatory Vision of Human Spirituality and the coeditor, with Jacob H. Sherman, of The Participatory Turn: Spirituality, Mysticism, Religious Studies, both also published by SUNY Press.
