12 CE Credits BBS, APA, for this course to psychologists, psychoanalysts, counselors, marriage and family therapists, social workers, creative arts therapists, nurses, educators, and chemical dependency counselors.
Emotions may be humanity’s greatest source of instincts, intelligence, and energy. All of our emotions contain genius and are essential parts of our cognition, social skills, capacity to learn, and our ability to love. There is no such thing as a negative emotion. Our emotions are messengers from the deepest, wisest, parts of ourselves. When we learn how to work with all of them, our lives, work, and relationships can improve dramatically.
Join empathy pioneer and author Karla McLaren for an illuminating workshop exploring your emotions as an intelligent living system. In this workshop, Karla guides you through our seventeen unique emotions—how they work, why they arise, and how to skillfully employ each one.
Through emotionally intelligent mindfulness practices, Karla demonstrates how to access the messages and intelligence inside each of your emotions. Learn simple ways to access your emotions when you need their support and practical approaches to help you access the wisdom of intense emotions, mixed emotions, and emotions that have been suppressed.
Discover why feelings of anger, anxiety, sadness, fear, shame, envy, and even hatred are essential for your health and well-being. Karla leads a series of practices to help you ground yourself, regain composure, and live mindfully with any emotion you experience. Karla also offers an exploration of Emotional Theater, a unique process that illuminates how all seventeen emotions work together in real time.
This weekend workshop is open to anyone interested in accessing the wisdom of emotions—from healthcare professionals and highly empathic people—to people who are struggling with emotions or empathy.
Exploring Emotional Wisdom is co-sponsored by R. Cassidy Seminars, who provide 11.5 CE Credits for this course to psychologists, psychoanalysts, counselors, marriage and family therapists, social workers, creative arts therapists, nurses, educators, and chemical dependency counselors.
There is a separate fee ($40) for these credits and certificate.
Karla McLaren, M.Ed. is an award-winning author, social science researcher, and empathy pioneer. Her lifelong work focuses on her grand unified theory of emotions, which revalues even the most “negative” emotions and opens startling new pathways into self-awareness, effective communication, and healthy empathy. She is the founder and CEO of Emotion Dynamics LLC and the developer of the Empathy Academy online learning site. Her applied work, Dynamic Emotional Integration® (also known as DEI) is a trailblazing approach to emotions and empathy that reveals the genius and the healing power within the emotional realm.
Karla has also developed the groundbreaking Six Essential Aspects of Empathy model that highlights all the processes in healthy empathy and makes them easily understandable, accessible, and attainable. This fully realized model teaches people how to access, develop, and manage their empathy intentionally. It also explicitly welcomes people who have been exiled from earlier models of empathy (such as men, boys, autistic people, and people with personality conditions such as narcissism and sociopathy).
Karla is the author of Embracing Anxiety: How to Access the Genius Inside This Vital Emotion (Sounds True, 2020), The Dynamic Emotional Integration® Workbook (Laughing Tree, 2018), Emotional Genius for Teens: Discovering the Brilliance inside Your Feelings with Amanda Ball, MS (Laughing Tree, 2018), The Art of Empathy: A Complete Guide to Life’s Most Essential Skill (Sounds True, 2013), The Language of Emotions: What Your Feelings are Trying to Tell You (Sounds True, 2010), and the multi-media online course Emotional Flow: Becoming Fluent in the Language of Emotions (Sounds True, 2012).
Karla is also in production on an illustrated children’s book: Emotions! The Smart Kid’s Field Guide to the Wonderful World of Feelings (Laughing Tree, 2020).
