Join scientist and Buddhist teacher Nikki Mirghafori  for a conversation with world-renowned meditation teacher and New York Times bestselling author, Sharon Salzberg on cultivating resilience, compassion, and clarity during difficult times.

Sharon Salzberg has played a crucial role in bringing meditation and mindfulness practices to the West and into mainstream culture since 1974, when she first began teaching. She remains a central figure in the field of meditation, a world-renowned teacher, and New York Times bestselling author. She is the co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA and the author of ten books including NY Times bestseller, Real Happiness, her seminal work, Lovingkindness and, Real Love, her latest release. Acclaimed for her humorous, down-to-earth teaching style, Sharon offers a secular, modern approach to Buddhist teachings, making them instantly accessible. Nikki Mirghafori

Nikki Mirghafori, PhD, is an Artificial Intelligence scientist and a Buddhist teacher. Nikki is a multiple lineage holder in the Theravada Buddhist tradition, empowered by the Burmese meditation master Venerable Pa Auk Sayadaw, as well as the Spirit Rock Meditation Center. She is also a Stanford-trained compassion cultivation instructor and a UCLA certified mindfulness facilitator.  Nikki has taught silent meditation retreats with luminaries such as Sharon Salzberg, Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, and others on a variety of contemplative topics ranging from mindfulness and lovingkindness to death contemplation.  She is on the Teachers Council of the Spirit Rock Meditation Center and a Teacher at the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA, where she also serves on the Board of Directors of both organizations.  In a parallel universe, Nikki has been a researcher and inventor in Artificial Intelligence, holding multiple patents.  She has directed international research programs, advised post-docs and PhD students, authored many scientific articles, taught graduate courses at UC Berkeley, and been a scientific advisor to Silicon Valley technology startups.
