How do I register/buy tickets for an event?
Click on the registration/ticket link on any event page on our website and you will be taken to a secure registration/purchase site. While we do offer sales at the door if space allows, be sure to register/purchase tickets early. Many of our events sell out. Once you have registered, we will email you confirmation materials. If you do not receive a confirmation, please call our office. CIIS reserves the right to cancel programs or change program locations, schedules, fees, or presenters, if necessary.
Can I cancel if I've already paid to attend an event?
Tickets for individual lectures, lecture series, conversations, and performances are nonrefundable. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to request a refund for a workshop.
- If you cancel 30 days or more before a workshop, your fee will be refunded, minus a $25 processing fee.
- If you cancel fewer than 30 days before the workshop, 50% of your ticket will be refunded. If you cancel once the workshop begins, there is no refund.
- If you cancel once the workshop begins, there is no refund or credit voucher.
What should I bring to my Public Programs event?
We suggest that you dress in layers (especially for longer workshops) as the weather in San Francisco can be unpredictable. If your workshop requires you to bring specific materials, you will be notified via email. If you are a person who likes to take notes, we encourage you to bring whatever you need to do so, but please keep an eye on your belongings (especially laptops and tablets) as CIIS is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Will there be refreshments available for purchase?
CIIS does have a campus café and a vending machines on site, but the café is typically closed during Public Programs events. If you think you will need a snack or a beverage during the event, please plan to bring your own food or drinks with you. There are also dozens of restaurants and cafes within walking distance of CIIS.
Do you offer any financial assistance for your programs?
We offer limited financial assistance through our Scholarship and Volunteer Programs, based on funding and availability. Click here for details about our Volunteer Program and here for details and scholarship applications.
We also offer Memberships for $100 per year—all members receive 20% off all of our events. If you attend just two workshops per year, your membership pays for itself. Your membership support also allows us to continue to offer discounted and free tickets to students and those in need, in addition to helping us produce our podcast to further increase accessibility to our programs.
Where are most of the Public Programs held?
Most of our events are held at the CIIS Main Building. We also present several events at larger off-campus venues each season. Check the individual event page on our website to determine where it is being held.

How do I get to CIIS?
Unless otherwise indicated, all programs are accessible by BART (Civic Center station), and MUNI #14, 47, 49, F, J, K, L, M, N, T.
Is there parking at CIIS?
There is on-street metered parking around the school. This parking is free after 6:00pm every evening. There are also pay-lots in the area. Two are located across from each other on 8th St. at Market, 3 blocks from the school.

What kind of accessibility does CIIS offer?
The CIIS Main Building, where the majority of our events are held, is wheelchair accessible, and we make every effort to work with offsite venues that offer complete accessibility. We are happy to offer ASL interpreters at our events upon request.
