What should I bring to my Public Programs event?
We suggest that you dress in layers (especially for longer workshops) as the weather in San Francisco can be unpredictable. If your workshop requires you to bring specific materials, you will be notified via email. If you are a person who likes to take notes, we encourage you to bring whatever you need to do so, but please keep an eye on your belongings (especially laptops and tablets) as CIIS is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Will there be refreshments available for purchase?
CIIS does have a campus café and a vending machine on site, but the café is typically closed during Public Programs events. If you think you will need a snack or a beverage during the event, please plan to bring your own food or drinks with you. There are also dozens of restaurants and cafes within walking distance of CIIS.
Can I get CEs or CEUs for any of these events?
Many of our programs meet the qualifications for continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS provider #PCE 652), and for registered nurses (BRN provider #02523). You are responsible for ascertaining whether your state board, if other than California, accepts these CEUs. In addition, CIIS is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. CIIS maintains responsibility for all CE-approved programs and their contents. See individual course descriptions for qualifying workshops and CE/CEU hours. CE/CEU-eligible participants must attend the entire course to receive CE/CEUs. No partial credit will be granted. Licensed professionals must identify their clinical status by supplying the Institute with their license number. Certificates will be distributed at the end of each workshop. CEs add a $15 administrative fee per course to total event registration fee.
Do you offer any financial assistance for your programs?
We offer limited financial assistance through our Scholarship Program, based on funds availability. We also offer volunteer opportunities for select events. See details about both our Scholarship and Volunteer programs here.
Where are most of the Public Programs held?
Usually our lectures and workshops are held at the CIIS Main Building, but occasionally we will hold a large event offsite. Check the individual event page on our website to determine where it is being held.
