Biography

William (Bill) Richards, STM, Ph.D., encountered psychedelic research in Germany in 1963, contributed to psychotherapy research with LSD, DPT, MDA and psilocybin at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center from 1967-1977, was active in psilocybin research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (now the Center for Psychedelic & Consciousness Research) from 1999-2023, and currently is a senior advisor at Sunstone Therapies. His graduate training in clinical psychology and the psychology of religion included studies at Yale University, the University of Göttingen, Andover-Newton Theological School, Brandeis University, and Catholic University. His book, Sacred Knowledge: Psychedelics & Religious Experiences (2015), now has been translated into multiple languages.
