Biography
“The common thread in my multidisciplinary educational journey is the exploration and interpretation of individual and collective meaning. My work centers on cultivating authentic, empowering, and liberating forms of expression within diverse bodies. This takes shape through art, therapy, and the profound act of simply being—in our own bodies and in connection with others.”
Stefanie blends humor, creativity, and intuition into everything she does. A visual artist at heart, she recently published Incompletely Human, a “LINKED” novel, the first installment of her Black queer sci-fi series. She also serves as Board Treasurer for the Queer Wellness Network, working to close the gap between underserved QTBIPOC communities and competent mental health care.
With nearly 14 years of experience in community mental health, Stefanie is committed to transforming the landscape of therapy for underrepresented and diverse populations. Currently completing her dissertation in Human Sexuality Doctoral Studies, her research focuses on Black femininities and masculinities, the cognitive effects of Black mass media, pornography, queer necropolitics, intertextuality, and sex magic.
A lover of good food, great company, hiking, comic books, and campy horror films, Stefanie is passionate about the power of representation. She is hard at work on her next Black queer sci-fi novel and other creative endeavors—or at least she should be.
