Biography

Rodrigo Xavier Caldera, LMFT, has been supporting individuals and groups on the fringes, suffering from systemic oppression and mental health challenges since the inception of his career in the year 2000. He began his work in the mental health field with a triply diagnosed adult population and continued with transitioned aged youth as part of the Catholic Charities programs. He discovered the healing connection between mind and body while studying psychology and dance at San Francisco State University and has embarked on a journey of discovery and embodiment since then, unable to relate to the human experience as separate from the body. His work expanded to include movement based expressive arts in 2010 when he studied with the legendary Anna and Daria Halprin at the Tamalpa Institute, deepening his awareness of the body as a source of transformation and the arts as a way to heal and integrate lived experience, opening up to a world of infinite possibilities directly sourced from the unconscious, the imaginal, and the felt. In 2015 he graduated with a MA in Counseling Psychology from CIIS, where he luxuriated in the world of somatics, and began his training as a psychotherapist at the Center for Somatic Psychotherapy, where today he holds the position of Clinic Manager, furthering his impact in the filed of mental health, ensuring access to Somatic Psychotherapy to all who seek it. Rodrigo continues to offer psychotherapy services through his Private Practice: Human Experience Psychotherapy, founded in 2022, and through ARM of Care, where he provides Art Therapy to female survivors and at-risk youth of human sex trafficking. In his spare time, Rodrigo is an avid artist, creating paintings that reflect the world around him as seen through eyes open and closed, bringing forth images from his imaginal and subconscious realm. He is a dancer/choreographer, performer, writer, and illustrator expressing a lively world of sensation through words, movement, and images. He also nurtures himself with daily doses of nature, where he experiences a sense of connection, taps into gratitude, and benefits from eco-regulation. Rodrigo is excited to continuously support his own process of healing in order to better serve those around him, contributing toward making the world a more embodied place, with deep respect for one another, all living creatures, and the planet we co-inhabit. You are invited to visit his website: Human ExperiencePsychotherapy.com for more information around his practice, current offerings, and professional experience. Much love and gratitude to all.
