Biography

Franklin King IV, M.D., practices clinically and conducts research at Mass General Hospital, where he trained in psychiatry followed by consult-liaison psychiatry after residency. He is interested in diversifying therapeutic paradigms and expanding the currently very limited framework for therapeutic use of psychedelics (and challenging existing assumptions on what defines “therapeutic” as well). Dr. King is also interested in potential use of psychedelics to treat disorders occurring at the mind-body interface, otherwise known as functional medical disorders, and to that end is the principal investigator of a study for psilocybin-AT for irritable bowel syndrome and am the study psychiatrist for a neuroimaging study of MDMA-AT for fibromyalgia. Finally, he is currently co-developing, with three friends and colleagues, a program for psychedelic education and container-building within the local network of Harvard teaching hospital-affiliated clinicians.
