Biography

Dr. Joanna/Jo Chojnicka (she/her) is Assistant Professor in English linguistics, co-founder of the Gender, Diversity and Inequalities research group, and affiliate board member of the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Groningen. She specializes in gender, sexuality and discourse studies, multilingualism and minority languages, and queer, postcolonial and eco approaches to linguistics. Her most recently completed project was concerned with multilingual practices in narratives of gender transition on Polish social media. She has also investigated homophobic hate speech patterns in Central and Eastern European political discourses, LGBTQ+ and feminist discourses of resistance, and discursive struggles over LGBTQ+ rights at Polish universities.
