Biography
Chrysalis Hyon obtained her Ph.D. from East-West Psychology at CIIS in May 2022, and also has a M.A. in Jurisprudence and Social Policy from University of California, Berkeley. She currently teaches on research methodologies for the East West Psychology program, as well as privately consults professional clients in transition and academic doctoral clients. Her dissertation research involved looking closely at intersectional cumulative trauma for multiply marginalized persons of color in a Western context. Through her former five-year stint as a fellow for the Center for Writing and Scholarship and supplementary coaching training, Chrysalis has developed an interactive pedagogical approach for effectively engaging Ph.D. and other graduate students in their learning processes. As a queer female of color educator, Chrysalis has a passion for embodied, creative, and resilient approaches to fostering critical liberatory awareness, research processes, and effective discourse with others, in order to realize the visionary promise of integral education.
