Biography
Bill is a seasoned leader who understands the nuances of strategy and relationship-building across multiple industries. He has excelled in tech, the nonprofit sector, and academia, melding his passion for education, Asian philosophy, and environmental causes with his management skills and nonprofit finance and governance knowledge.
Bill began his career at Greenpeace, excelling at campaign and media strategy development. He participated in several successful initiatives, including protecting Canadian temperate rainforest from logging and ending French nuclear weapons testing in French Polynesia.
He honed his management and analytical skills in software development, swiftly assuming management roles in several gaming, demand chain management, and digital rights management software companies.
Bill then turned to his passion for Asian philosophy and traditional medicine. After training and licensing as an acupuncturist, he advocated for traditional Asian medicine through several professional associations in the field, including service as the executive director of the California State Oriental Medical Association (CSOMA), helping to found and lead the American Society of Acupuncturists and the California Acupuncture Coalition, and serving on the board of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In addition to his leadership role at CIIS, Bill is currently a managing partner at Accountiful, an outsourced finance service company serving nonprofit organizations. He is a Certified Management Accountant and an expert in nonprofit governance. He was appointed to the Board of Trustees at CIIS in 2015.
