Biography

Andrew Penn, M.S., PMHNP, is a Clinical Professor in the UCSF School of Nursing and a 2017 graduate of CPTR. He has practices as a psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner at the San Francisco VA and is a member of the Translational Psychedelics Research (TrPR) lab at UCSF, worked on the MAPS phase 3 trial of MDMA, the Usona phase 2 trial of psilocybin for depression, and several other studies. Andrew and several colleagues from the 2017 cohort founded the Organization of Psychedelic and Entheogenic Nurses.

He is interested in understanding the psychedelic therapy process through a nursing-informed model of care. He has published on psychedelics in the American Journal of Nursing, Frontiers in Psychiatry, and The Journal of Humanistic Psychotherapy and spoken at Aspen Ideas Festival, SXSW, the Singapore Ministry of Health, and TEDxMarin.
