Lora Likova, PhD, is a scientist with an interdisciplinary background - spanning from computer science and artificial intelligence to human cognitive neuroscience. She has many years of research in perceptual processing and advanced brain imaging, and has several patents in the field of magnetic physics. Dr. Likova is a Principal Investigator and Lab Director at the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, San Francisco. She has published many papers, book chapters, and has given numerous presentations at the leading international meetings on vision, cognition and neuroscience. Her research has been funded by major federal agencies. A main focus of her studies is the understanding of principles of brain architecture, cross-modal brain reorganization and neurorehabilitation, including the development of novel paradigms based on "visual" art for driving brain plasticity and improving memory and spatial cognition for blindness rehabilitation. She is also leading a large-scale study for the multimodal analysis of visual deficits due to concussion and traumatic brain injury.
