Born and raised in South Africa, Chantal has a BA with honors in film production and an MA in Middle Eastern history. She has 15 years of experience in all areas of media and communications, and in the agricultural development sector in Africa and the Middle East.
Chantal is passionate about effecting change through the medium of storytelling, as well as through the advancement of sustainable cultural practices.
Chantal enrolled as a PhD student in 2017. Her academic research focuses on societies' relationship to agriculture and the modern production food chain. Through the observation and evaluation of the practices of a diverse range of ancient and modern agricultural based societies, she aims to better define how agriculture as a religious and spiritual practice in and of itself can contribute to ecological sustainability, and assist in the alleviation of malnutrition and a more equitable distribution of community based wealth.
