Embracing Aging With Embodied Spirituality
A Workshop With Susan Aposhyan
Two-Day Online Workshop, Three Hours Per Day
Embodied spirituality is an emerging approach to spirituality that uses body awareness as a gateway to spirit and doesn’t transcend the body or eschew our humanity. Many approaches to yoga, meditation, contemplation, nature-based spirituality, and even aspects of all the major religions can be included in embodied spirituality. Embodied spirituality embraces the awakened body, emotional awareness, relationship, sexuality, family life, and political activism.
This natural connection between body and spirit may be most relished in youth. As we age, we tend to give that quality up, or it can be harder to feel. Practicing embodied spirituality in all stages of life allows us to remember the innate truth: the body is infused with spirit! In embodied spirituality, we see the continuity between the Earth and all its life forms, humans and the whole universe in its physical and spiritual dimensions.
Join psychotherapist, writer, somatic practitioner, meditation teacher Susan Aposhyan for an interactive workshop exploring how engaging with embodied spirituality can support our blossoming as we age. Susan invites us to see aging as a spiritual opportunity by connecting with both our body’s wisdom and the freshness of being in our body moment to moment.
Susan shares her Embodiment Practice which she developed over a 50-year period. Participants are invited to explore the practice in multiple ways: through movement, breath, meditation, self-inquiry or dyadic inquiry, and journaling. As they practice, participants are invited to reflect on the blessings and challenges of aging. Susan gently guides participants to explore all aspects of aging through Embodiment Practice: living in a body, maturity, wisdom, loss, grief, and preparing for death.
Susan invites you to explore spirituality through breath, movement, emotion, perception, and sensing your connection to the world in a relaxed and gently paced environment. Discover your core flow—the literal energetic flow of life through the core of your body—in addition to learning to work with the fountain of youth for all beings, the emergent self, tapping into the freshness of being you moment to moment.
Susan Aposhyan, MA, LPC, maintains a private practice and trains helping professionals internationally in her work, Body-Mind Psychotherapy.
