I see therapy as a process of reclaiming choice. Challenging life experiences can overwhelm our ability to cope and cause us to prioritize those behaviors and beliefs that have immediate survival value. A safe therapeutic relationship can create the conditions for parts of us that are creative, playful, and wise to come into fuller expression. As we invite and embrace more of who we are, we are better able to respond appropriately to life situations.
I believe that in our work together we are always guided by the intelligence of the body-mind that absolutely knows the direction of its own unfolding toward integration and health. My primary intent in the therapeutic process is to attune to, align with and support this deeper knowing.
I am trained in Somatic Experiencing – a body-oriented approach to addressing the effects of trauma – and draw on psychodynamic theory, interpersonal neurobiology, Focusing, Hakomi, Internal Family Systems, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Positive Psychology and work from a strengths-based orientation.
I am bilingual in English and Bulgarian.
