I view therapy as a sacred connection and collaboration, with the therapist as guide or mentor. With a sense of deep respect, curiosity, and empathy, I also invite humor and playfulness when appropriate.
I believe in the wisdom of the body and its inherent healing rhythms. Understanding the biological basis of many of our behaviors and the body’s natural responses to stress and trauma helps significantly mitigate associated stigma and shame.
Working from a resource-based, trauma-sensitive approach, I integrate sensorimotor psychotherapy, neurobiologically-informed parts work, Somatic Experiencing, cognitive behavioral techniques, embodied awareness, and mindfulness within a social justice and liberation psychology framework that honors cultural values, spiritual or religious beliefs, and each person’s unique identity and innate dignity.
I have Hypnotherapy certification, an MBA, and entrepreneurial, business, publishing, multicultural, and expatriate experience. I speak conversational Spanish.
With a steadfast belief in the limitless capabilities of human imagination and creativity, I believe therapy can be a highly creative, healing, and transformative endeavor.
“Once you start approaching your body with curiosity rather than with fear, everything shifts.”
