MFA and BAC adjunct professor Brynn Saito was featured in the New Haven Independent for a reading she gave promoting her new book, "The Palace of Contemplating Departure," which won the 2013 Benjamin Saltman Award from Red Hen Press.

Brynn was born and raised in the Central Valley of California to a Korean American mother and a Japanese American father. Her poetry has been anthologized by Helen Vendler and Ishmael Reed; it has also appeared in Virginia Quarterly Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Ninth Letter, Pleiades, and Drunken Boat, among other journals.

She is the recipient of a Kundiman Asian American Poetry Fellowship, the Poets 11 award from the San Francisco Public Library, and the Key West Literary Seminar’s Scotti Merrill Memorial Award. Currently, Brynn lives in the Bay Area and teaches in the Master of Fine Arts programs and the Bachelor of Arts Completion program at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.
