Congratulations to our graduating students this semester:  Juan Carlos Gonzalez, Nanci Price Scoular, Jeffrey Amos Scott, and Melanie Tormos.

Salinas, CA-based Juan Carlos created new works representing his deep commitment to working collaboratively within the Salinas community. The exhibition included mixed-media paintings on canvas, watercolor sketches on paper, and works representing the Urban Arts Collaborative, a community urban arts project.

The starting points for Nanci's thesis exhibition, SanToriaBay, were autobiographical and spiritual narratives of longing and loss, oriented along the seashore that traces her journey from South Africa to Canada to San Francisco.

Jeffrey has completed a novel entitled Conjuring Up Freedom, centered on the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the friendship this event makes possible between two women, one an African-American professor from the North and one a white high school teacher from the South.

Melanie begins her work with a close observation of visions, dreams or objects in nature and then reinterprets them through an intuitive, but meticulous, drawing practice.

On December 7th, we held our first Alumni reunion and mixer, featuring performances by Jovelyn Richards, Joie Rey Cohen, Alex Friend, Nina Schnall, Deborah Henning, and theatre students of Jessa Brie Berkner from Oakland Tech.
