ACTCM Graduates Score Highest on CA Licensure Exam
Passing the Board exams is a requirement in obtaining a license to practice acupuncture in California. In 2016, graduates of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM at CIIS) did just that: First-time test takers scored a 100% pass rate on the California Acupuncture Licensing Examination (CALE) in August 2016. California is the only state in the U.S. that has its own acupuncture licensing examination, which is known to be one of the most difficult to pass.
“Our students are remarkable scholars who go on to become incredible practitioners,” says Lixin Huang, ACTCM at CIIS Executive Director. “I am proud to say that the 100% pass rate of our recent graduates is indicative of ACTCM’s level of excellence in the field of acupuncture.”
The California Acupuncture Board administers the CALE and is an autonomous entity under the umbrella of the Department of Consumer Affairs, which is responsible for licensing and regulation of acupuncture in California. For overall pass rates, ACTCM at CIIS ranked in the top 14% of board-certified acupuncture schools in California, scoring 91%. Currently there are 38 schools/training programs approved by the Acupuncture Board, 22 in California and 16 in other states.
Preparing for CA Acupuncture Licensure
ACTCM at CIIS is committed to providing the best education possible for its students, and the recent CALE pass rate of the school’s recent alums speaks to the success of the program in facilitating preparedness for state licensure.
Huang attributes the high pass rates to the level of excellence of the student body. “Our recent graduates are an example of the amazing scholars, students and faculty we have at ACTCM,” she says. “Our students become valued practitioners of acupuncture, thanks to their dedication, hard work, and spirit. ACTCM is proud of their accomplishments, both in the program and in the field.”
