About the Author:
Sacha Kagan is a research associate at the Center for World Music of the University of Hildesheim, Germany, where he works as Principal Investigator of the project “Queering Jewish Cultural Heritage in Europe” (2022-2025), funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) – project number 497299755. Dr. Kagan is also 'Privatdozent' at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Leuphana University Lüneburg, Germany, where he worked as research associate from 2005 to 2018, earned a doctorate in 2011 focusing on “art and (un)sustainability”, and habilitated in 2021. Kagan graduated in History at University of Bordeaux 3-Montaigne (France, 2000), in Political Sciences at Sciences Po Bordeaux (France, 2003) and in Cultural Economics and Cultural Entrepreneurship at Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands, 2004). His transdisciplinary research focus is on the manifold relations of the arts and culture to the search process of sustainability, and more recently on queer inspirations for conviviality and cultures of sustainability. Sacha Kagan is the editor of the book Culture and Sustainable Development in the City: Urban Spaces of Possibilities (Routledge, 2022).
