About the Presentation
Traumatic events are rarely considered to be a way of discovering the socially constructed nature of self and world, as well as the Deeper Self and Spirit. This talk will look beyond post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and symptom clusters to the existential, ontological, and transpersonal revelations that are potentially present in every traumatic event. Those in search of the transcendent can stop whenever the threat of ego dissolution is too great; whereas victims of trauma must either work the territories exposed by such an event all the way to the transcendent, or be destroyed by them.
