Research is showing that mindfulness practices decrease stress, anxiety, and depression in children, while improving emotional regulation, ability to focus, and social relations-all proven contributors to academic achievement and healthy development. With mindfulness, social and emotional literacy, empathy training, and other awareness-based practices, educators and caregivers around the world are helping youth to cultivate insight, compassion, and attention. When learned at a young age, these skills have the capacity to transform lives, families, and societies.
This workshop helps participants gain skills and confidence in bringing the many benefits of mindfulness to children in grades K-12. Educators, counselors, parents, and childcare providers have the opportunity to deepen their own mindfulness practice, explore various mindfulness-based curricula, and discover practical tools to incorporate mindfulness practices into daily life and work.
Daniel Rechtschaffen, MFT, is the author of The Way of Mindful Education: Cultivating Well-Being in Teachers and Students. He leads mindfulness in education trainings and conferences for schools and communities around the world. He has helped create curriculum for organizations such as Mindfulness Without Borders, Mindful Schools, and The Mindful Mothering Project.
