For so many centuries humans viewed the cosmos as imbued with divine consciousness, perfect order, and a web of sympathies that connected all living things with one another. Disenchantment is an aberration. How did our ancestors experience the living cosmos? What did they know through intuition that we cannot even begin to comprehend despite all our knowledge, power, and technology? Though it is hard not to dwell in the overwhelming confusion and sorrow of being a species who has lost its way, we must move forward. What then does this path toward the future look like? How can we envision the cosmos so as to inspire wonder and compassion for the world around us? By embracing and acknowledging the rich history, both in myth and philosophy, of the cosmic man and the world soul perhaps we can begin to draft a spiritual manifesto that honors the past, comprehends the present, and looks hopefully toward the future.
