From the way of the shaman to advanced auditory stimulation programs, we know that sound is vibration and that vibration permeates all things. Sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Through multimedia, experiential, and scientific research, this class examines the impact of sound to redress imbalances on every level of psychophysical functioning and how it can play a positive role in the treatment of multiple medical disorders.

We will invite and deepen inquiry into frequency, sound, music and sounding, and the multilayered relationship among the scientific, physiological, cognitive, artistic, and affective impact of sound on human behavior, consciousness, and the environment.
