Finding our Wholeness with Riyaz Motan As we learn to surrender our ideas of "being a therapist" or even "doing therapy", we are open to discover the spontaneity, creativity, and warmth that are the natural hallmarks of presence and wholeness. Part of the Nondual Wisdom and Psychology Conference

In this workshop, we will explore, in an experiential way, how to deepen our trust in the healing power of presence.  As we learn to surrender our ideas of "being a therapist" or even "doing therapy", we are open to discover the spontaneity, creativity, and warmth that are the natural hallmarks of presence and wholeness.  This openness releases an easeful expression of love, compassion and wisdom; it does not need any effort or intention beyond the attention to our own experience.    In fact, as we learn to recognize - in the moment - how the ideas and motivations we have about "helping" or "healing" our clients arise in us, we are free to return to a more natural and relaxed state of being.  In this natural state, our wholeness and humanity is more fully and freely available.  And we see that this freedom and fullness does not lose sight of the "function" of healing and the context in which we meet our clients.  Leaving our identity, and returning to wholeness, we are more fully able to inspire our clients to wholeness as well.

Riyaz Motan, M.F.T. is in private practice in San Francisco and San Rafael.  He is an adjunct professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies, and has served as a clinical supervisor to C.I.I.S. students for the past ten years.  Riyaz has been inspired by the non-dual teachings of Advaita Vedanta, and he has passionately sought to bring the wisdom of this tradition into his work as a therapist, supervisor, and teacher. He has participated as a panel moderator and as a presenter at the past three Non Dual Wisdom and Psychotherapy Conferences.
