Join us for this pre-event in celebration of Women's History Month! We are excited to host Joy Ladin, a poet, literary scholar, and speaker on trans issues and theology. Through readings and discussions of poems in newly-published Shekhinah Speaks—an effort to give voice to the Shekhinah, Jewish mysticism's name for the female aspect of divinity—Joy will talk about what it means to gender divinity, about the divine feminine in Jewish tradition, and about what it means to experience it.

Joy LadinJoy Ladin is the author of ten books of poetry, including 2022's Shekhinah Speaks, National Jewish Book Award winner The Book of Anna, and Lambda Literary Award finalists Impersonation and Transmigration. She has also published a memoir of gender transition, Through the Door of Life, and a groundbreaking work of trans theology, The Soul of the Stranger: Reading God and Torah from a Transgender Perspective. Her work has been recognized with a National Endowment of the Arts fellowship and a Fulbright Scholarship, among other honors. Her work is available at www.wordpress.joyladin.com.
