Evelyn Y. Ho (MA/PhD Communication Studies, University of Iowa) is a Professor of Communication Studies, Asian Pacific American Studies, and Critical Diversity Studies at the University of San Francisco. Her teaching and research focus on the intersections of health, culture and communication with an emphasis on holistic medicine.
Recent interdisciplinary projects include creating integrative Chinese medicine and western medicine nutritional guides for Chinese Americans with Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease. She has also been working to understand the use of informal/unlicensed Chinese medicine practices such as foot reflexology, postpartum practices, Chinese medicinal foods in Singapore, and examining communication about complementary and integrative medicines in biomedical visits.
At USF Dr. Ho teaches courses in Communication and Culture, Qualitative Research Methods, Health Communication, Holistic Medicine, and Asian Pacific American Studies. Evelyn is the current Chair of the Health Communication Division of the International Communication Association (ICA).
