Expanding the Circle 2016
LGBTQ in Higher Education
Expanding the Circle (ETC) brings together diverse audiences of students, student life professionals, administrators, and faculty in higher education who share a commitment to LGBTQ concerns and scholarship. Annual meetings allow and encourage participants to speak across boundaries that typically shape other professionally or disciplinary-specific conferences. ETC provides a forum for sharing and extending our commitments to improving the lives, experiences, and institutional climates for LGBTQ-identified individuals—both inside and outside of the classroom.
Building on this mission and a commitment to intersectional engagements, this year's Expanding the Circle will welcome participants representing primary and secondary education as well as workplace environments beyond higher education. Consequently, the 2016 meeting represents an extraordinary opportunity to share initiatives, programs, pedagogies, and scholarship related to LGBTQ individuals at various stages of life. Additionally, the synergies that ETC participants explore together have the potential to foster new partnerships in praxis.
