The Existential-Humanistic Institute (EHI), in collaboration with CIIS, honors the centenary of James F. T. Bugental's birth and 50th anniversary of the publication of The Search for Authenticity.
A founder of Humanistic Psychology, co-founder of the Existential-Humanistic Institute, master Existential Therapist and pioneer of Transpersonal Psychology, Jim was a champion of experience-near psychotherapy, recognizing inward sensing and spontaneous engagement in the present moment as core practices for depth therapy & the search for authenticity.
An exemplar of inner sensing and relational candor, Jim's influence has been far-reaching, empowering authentic presence and interpersonal understanding in psychotherapy and akin practices of self-inquiry.
This conference brings together a number of Jim's associates, now respected mentors, therapists and teachers themselves, who are taking his inspiration into the emerging age.
The search for authenticity embraces the challenge of fully accepting oneself as is, beyond defensive self-limitations. This weekend will honor the living tradition of psychotherapy inspired by Jim Bugental and celebrate the search for authenticity as it moves and morphs into the 21st century, addressing existential concerns, relationship quandaries, social change, and self-liberation. Respecting that authenticity is not something that can be taught, but only discovered and expressed by each person who opens to it, this forum seeks to invoke the power of presence through presentations rooted in the living moment and emphasizing mutual reflection and discussion.
