"I am grateful for the experience of the “intensives” and my cohort of educators; grateful for my instructors who validated and honored my presence every step of the way;"
I am currently the Director of Equity, Justice and Community at Sidwell Friends School. I believe that education is the key that allows students to envision and create a positive path for their futures. As an educational advocate, teacher, and administrator, I have worked to maximize measurable outcomes for youth in foster care, inner cities, and the absolute poverty of Africa, as well as students at some of the most prestigious, independent schools in the country. I have a broad perspective on access to education. As a graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies, I continue to be moved by CIIS's stated commitment to be creative, curious, mindful, and socially aware. My time at CIIS more than prepared me for the rigorous work of an Ivy League institution like the University of Pennsylvania. I entered into my doctoral studies, feeling comfortable, competent and more than capable. I am grateful for the experience of the "intensives" and my cohort of educators; grateful for my instructors who validated and honored my presence every step of the way.
